Almost went down....
01/02/13 at 16:12:47

Got up at 3AM to go to work, checked the forecast, etc, it was above freezing. The day before was sunny and brisk, and was to continue today...I walked some asphalt, seemed to have sparkles, but no ice, cool, I saddled up and rode. Got a wee concern in a few spots, but I took it slow. As you go down a bending grade to the ferry, I saw ice. I was going real slow now and stopped, but I couldn't completely, very slowly I crept forward and I skied with it, both feet on the ground, I was sliding. I saw a dry patch, even tho I needed to bend to the left, I knew the dry patch was my best shot. My bike went over but not down as I wrestled it back up, as I could only lightly tap my front brake to try and slow....thank goodness this gal didn't weigh more. I made it, but others didn't...one big Shadow and a Harley went down, and reports of more. It seems they left, or a sprinkler, or something spewed water all night across this spot, and no one did anything about it, like sand, etc....

I guess I'll take my 4X tomorrow and not chance it till the temps rise a little.....

Raydawg, not sure where your at here in the PNW, yet
this a.m. while I was at the gym, I witnessed a couple
mc's on the road. Not the weather I will ride in. It was
27 degrees here in Belfair, Wa. That is way too cold for
this gal. Not only that, ice everywhere.
I also saw a couple more mc riders while I was out doing
some errands after the gym, This was by that time 7 a.m.
and still plenty of ice around.
Tonight is another cold, icy night with temps again in the 20's.
I will wait for warmner temps before I bring Genie out of hibernation.
Take care and glad you were able to keep your bike upright.. Smiley kim

Hi Kim, I'm just up the sound from you...I live on Whidbey Island. I pulled the bike into the shed and tossed a cover over her, made it a little tougher to get her out in the morning if I'm tempted  Tongue
My wife was a wee bit miffed that I rode, I'll take the 4X until it stays up a bit more...two more months heck and I'll be wearing my speedos again  Huh

It was 18 degrees this morning here in Northern Kentucky.  As I arrived to work I saw a motorscooter pass by - the rider was really bundled up in coats and scarfs.  Made me wonder if the only transportaton they own is the scooter?

It wasn't me Dave! But yeah, I see a lot of them still riding around LaGrange and Louisville as I make my rounds. I think you're right, must be their only transportation.

There's a lady who posts on a motorcycle forum for Cincinnati riders that only owns a scooter and rides 12 months a year so it is possible that was the case.
