Started my fake oil tank

Starting to pull off some stock parts to start my bobber project, decided this was a good time to start with the fake oil tank to hide some of the electronics. I can't weld so I needed materials that can be put together easily and since It's kinda just a mock up it needed to be cheap.

4 inch end cap, 4"x24" aluminum vent pipe. All located at home depot. Total cost of parts: $15

Just cut the aluminum vent pipe to size fit and fit together. If you don't like the size you have plenty of leftover material to try again.

This is it just sitting in the bike. I haven't built the brackets yet to hold it up, still waiting on my new bobber seat so I can start seeing what can be hid where. I'm going to check the forum for some ideas on how to fully hide everything.

I'd really like to start hiding electronics in it and see if I should have gone to 5" instead of 4". Plus I want to get it painted and start work on the seat and rear fender.

Scuff with scotch brite pad, prime and paint like anything else. And it is easy access + mostly water proof.

Before I spent the time & $$$ on a metal one ( Which I would have done if WD hadnt said something) Id take a shot at pvc. Ive seen some flat caps, same size as sch.40, but theyre DWV ( Drain,waste & vent).
Some clever DRemel work & time consuming bolstering up of the edge of the caps, each could be made Twist Off & On. Mite be able to buy a 3rd cal & harvest sections of the edge of one to epoxy onto the end cap edges where a slot would be cut to twist the cap onto a piece of thin walled ( thinner than sch 40, but same size). Id try to decide how fat a tube I could get in then call around to PVC sales places, irrigation supply houses, septic system supplies, etc & see if anyone has a busted piece of pipe layin around the size ya want. YOu mite even get away with ridin up with a hacksaw & buy your stuff & only take what ya want.
Better get enough O that pipe for Birthing Pains. YOu may build 3 to get one.
Be a lot easier to shape strap on a heavy walled pieced.
MIte need a heat gun to get the hacked off edges to fit, or, maybe put it on a grinder & buzz the 90* off where the flat of the cap comes to edge & just have a ring O plastic left, slice that & open it up & use the whole edge. If that works, youll need 4 caps to make 2 that you can remove.

MIte be ahead with a couple O these

Heck, prollee be easier to run whatever ya wanna stash up in the tube & run the warrs out, then hook em up to th bike.
& deciding what size will go would be easy enough with some heavy paper, like poster board. Roll up a tube, slide it in, let it unwrap until it hits something, square it up, mark it, take it out, tape it up & mejjure it,
got a tape mejjur dontchya?

Started pulling the rear fender off now I'm off to work, but has anyone figured a decent way to stream line the wires to hide them the best? If so anyone have any close ups of how they hid them?
