Clutch in for start issue

Somehow in my replacement of the handlebars I lost the post that contacts the clutch lever. I swear I missed this for about a week where I couldn't figure out why my bike wouldn't start. The wiring was right, I just kept second guessing everything else till I checked this out.
Anyways, I have the wires bridged all the time currently. I am just curious if there is any adverse effects?
The only known one is obviously I have to keep in mind to only start in Neutral or have the clutch in (duh) as the current wiring setup won't fix a stupid start.

If noting is plugged into it, the connector can corrode... That is about it.
