hey hex,
run a search with the words "saddlebags rectifier". there is a good thread discussing the issue with several solutions you can review. some move it, some do not worry about it, and someone put some holes in the saddlebag strap and just mounted the recitifier on top.

good hunting and i like your 64 harley

Thanks, I did a search and nothing showed up. I will try again,

Mounting the rectifier on top of the saddlebag strap sounds good if it does not put the rectifier too high up and into the seat. I will have to look at it.

I just wondered if any one had a rectifier go out by putting the saddlebag strap over it.

Thanks again

I never had any problems with it, but I didn't completely cover it either.

Mine was that way when I bought it, but I like a naked bike look, so I only used them about a year.

I too was concerned, but was able to cut enuff of the strap out  to keep the rectifier mostly exposed.

I bought the OEM Suzuki studded bags. I just tossed them over and made my own brackets. I have never had a problem.
