license plate mounting
12/02/12 at 16:16:38

So I bought one of those there side mount plate holders with the brake light that all the kids are getting these days and need to mount the darn thing.

Anyone have any success mounting them to the axle bolt or is it too short? The steel is about 1/4" thick so im not sure the thatll be enough threads left for the bolt. Maybe the lower shock bolt?

thanks yall!

Hey ajhoff83 welcome to the forums, there are a number of guys that have bobbed the LS650.  Just do a search and check out what other people have done.  I've seen quite a few side mount plate holders in various posts. I'm not sure if anyone has directly mounted them with the axle bolt or not, but 1/4" seems a bit thick.  Here's a pic of SimonTuffGuy's bike with a side mount I came across quick doing a seach, it's hard to see if it's mounted using the axle bolt or not though.

Also make sure your state laws don't require the plate to be mounted horizontally before you dive in  Wink

Funny, that's a PA plate & PA requires it to be mounted horizontally.   Tongue

I made a mount out of 1/4" metal and mounted it to the lower left shock mount. The license plate bracket took the place of the washer.

Does PA also allow straight pipes?  I'm rubbing my ball (eh, singular) and I see a future teekeet.

No straight pipes, but that BCB pipe is baffled, I believe.  Cool
