SAD
11/21/12 at 10:15:18

I was very active on a Aborist/Chainsaw website for a while.  I cut firewood for heat and needed to get a bit more knowledgable about chainsaws before I bought the wrong one.  Just like this forum there were some people that knew a lot about chainsaws and were very helpful.....and each week new people showed up.  They even had their own form of Oil Wars that kept showing up about what oil is best.....and what mix ratios to use.

The one thing that is different about this site is that unlike the Arborist Site where people got CAD (Chainsaw Acquisition Disorder) - this site doesn't seem to promote SAD (Savage Acquisition Disorder) or MAD (Motorcycle Acquisition Disorder).  On the Arborist forum people would come to the site with only a single chainsaw.....and within a short period of time would expand their fleet to have several different brands and sizes of saws....and the forum member just kept enabling each other to buy more!

This site seems to be a lot more thrifty about having a single motorcycle, and the things needed to make it better looking or keep it running.  Life is good!

I'm a recovering SAD member,.. I've had 6, or 8, or so, come and go over the years,.. and currently have two Savages, and big Kawa, and one Savage engine spread about my carport and shop... along with mufflers, tanks, seats, and bits and parts all over the place...
My house,... is a designated motorcycle depot... Grin...

Is there a 12 step program?... Huh...

I horde things.
I have a Bridgeport. Just put a deposit on a lathe last night. Because I already don't have space in my garage.
I have 4 cars and two bikes.
Everything is a project.

Yep.
1st step, buy a savage.
2nd step, buy a savage.
3rd step, buy a savage.
4th step, buy a savage.
5th step, buy a savage.
6th step, buy a savage.
7th step, buy a savage.
8th step, buy a savage.
9th step, buy a savage.
10th step, buy a savage.
11th step, buy a savage.
12th step, buy a savage.

Do you only count whole bikes or do engines count?   Grin

I think I tried that...  Huh...

... as far as engines counting,.. we should probably go by gross weight...
When you've gathered enough engines and spare parts to equal the weight of a bike,.. it counts as a whole bike...
...even if it won't make one... Grin...

PS.. At one point,.. I had a collection of 5 stock mufflers...
4 went in the trash on clean-up day... Grin...

Dave must be a bit shocked... There are e few more SAD addicts here than he thought...
Grin...

Buy every motorcycle you see you want and can afford. Enjoy life to the fullest. My health is so bad I finally give up and sold my Savage this summer. My Ninja 250 is sitting in the basement. It hasnt been ran for so long the carbs are stopped up. Cant stand the thoughts of not having a bike  even though I'm too weak to ride. Guitars and motorcycles were pretty much my life and now they're useless to me. Lost one of my brothers last week. I'm sure if he could do it all over he would put more miles on his Nighthawk. I've had around 30 bikes in my lifetime and ridden over 200,000 miles on the steet. Wish I could have done more but I'm greatful for the good times I got to spend with my 2 wheeled girlfriends. I've led a great exciting life, even flew hangliders for 13 years, I've skydived, white water kayaked. Have a great family, a lovely hardheaded wife. My only regret is I wished I could have traveled more, but thats not a lot to complain about. I'm 58 years old but with my disability the doc says I have the body of a 70+ year old and I'm in constant pain. I've rambled enough, If you can afford it for God's sake do it. You cant buy health but you can buy fun. Live life to the fullest and if you can afford it do it!!!!!!
