Hey everyone, I just purchased a cheap mega air horn for my 01 ls650.  It's not a necessity but the little beep beep my regular horn creates isn't loud enough for my comfort level.  Has anyone hooked of of these up before or is there a link on how to wire it into my fuse box to where I press te horn and it activates the mega horn instead of the stock horn. ??

If it's one of those cheap horns it may draw even less current than the factory one - it just focuses all that noise in one direction so it's ridiculously loud right in front of it but you can't really hear it from any other direction. Got a picture of it or a link to a website? I wouldn't be surprised if you could put it right where the stock horn is or in front of the frame. I'm still looking for the perfect sized horn but I'm putting mine in front of the frame.

The disadvantage to what you bought is that you have to find room for that one big lump.  The cheaper multi-piece, versions allow mounting the compressor here and the horns there, etc.  

Once you find room for it, just mount it and wire it according to the instructions.


Keep in mind, the relay is there to send full amperage to the horn directly from the battery (to hook up the compressor as directly as possible to the battery) without needing the horn button to do anything other than tell the relay to do that.  The horn switch can only handle a few amps max while the contacts in the relay are made to handle maybe 30 amps, intermittently.

Update on the air horn, i took off the old horn and also both reflectors on each side of the bike. The hole where the previous horn was just had to be drilled a little bigger and it bolted in perfectly. Plently of clearance from turning left and right and all wires are hidden. Wiring was extremly easy and the horn is stupid loud, or so my neighbor said this morning at 8am. I didnt think it would be that loud so i wanted to test it.  Nothing like fresh cherrios on your lap in the morning after being scared by the sound. If someone cares to see pictures, lemme know and ill post one.   No doubt in my mind that if someone is fading into my lane, that this is as loud if not louder and more piercing than a car horn.     Horn is a Stebel Nautilus that was found on ebay for $20.  All wiring and connectors were already in my garage so total build was $20 plus shipping.  You can buy the whole install kit with all wires pre-wired and everything but Im cheap so eh..
