I only have 30 thousand miles on mine so I have not had any of those problems yet. I have had to change the front brakes twice and the tires once.

30 thousand miles on a S40! I AM impressed. I hope to do half that mileage. I guess I have something to look forward to. I will be picking  up my bike from the repair shop at the dealership tomorrow. I hope to have no more scary problems with the bike.  Smiley

I have something over 12000 miles on my '07, with no problems so far. I have replaced the rear tire twice and the front brake pads once. I'm still on the OEM battery. If it were my only bike and I had put all the miles on it, I'd be up well over 25K. Of course, I cannot know whether I'd have had trouble.

360, I've had over 100 road bikes in 25 years. Anymore, if they don't come with points and a kicker I'm not giving them a second glance. Except for VN800A and VN1500s (except for the 1500A).

My trucks are the same way, carb and points. I have a couple fuel injected electronic ignition mini trucks that won't be fixed once they croak on me.

I don't even buy vehicles with automatic transmissions anymore.

So, it is a failing of the competitive male ego, driven by hyped up testosterone madness and some varying mixture of brand loyalty.

Flattery will get you nowhere, oldfeller.  Grin
