Mysterious Rattle on the Right Side
10/04/12 at 20:26:49

So, I had this mysterious rattle on the right side kinda in the vicinity of the shock and muffler, and thought maybe it was the license plate. I tinkered and tightened up the plate and made sure the muffler bolts were tight as well.  Everything was, but I still heard this little annoying rattle. (Note: my definition of annoying is probably overkill, but it was enough to challenge me to find it)  I finally found what I think it was, which was the helmet lock.  No, the screws weren't loose, but the mechanism has a wee little bit of play even when closed.

So what did I do you ask...?  Good question.  I just got a little piece of electrical tape and wrapped it around the lock and no more rattle.  Sure, I could just take the whole thing off because I don't use it due to saddle bags, but then it would be lost forever in my garage.

Anyone else had this issue, or do I just lay awake at night wondering about things that are probably a result of undiagnosed ADD?

If I tried to isolate ever single rattle on my bike, I'd loose what's left of my sanity, and my bike would loose its "character" Shocked

If you can hear that rattling, your bike is definitely far too quiet.

What's even funnier about that is the blinker is electronic - it doesn't make any noise! hahaha
