Enclosed motorcycle

http://litmotors.com/home/   Not sure if anyone out there is interested in something like this. Just thought I'd throw it out there. I may get one in a few years if they are still around and I can afford one.

Segway depends on mobility in the same axis as balance.   The wheels can't move sideways, so it must be something else (gyro?).

Until now, I didnt know you could have just 2 wheels on the ground & it be motorized & it still not be a motorcycle.. I dont think Id like it,, I wouldnt be able to smell what I smell when I ride, & thats important to me.,I want to feel the wind on me, I want to experience what it is to be outside.. Im sure thats a neat doohickey, Im just not the target market.

This kind of looks like an aerodynamic SMART car.....with a couple of wheels missing.  I am not sure that would get my motorcycle MOJO working.

Ya, I think this would be more for an old guy like me. Who still wants to be on 2 wheels when he's 80. You can open the window and stick your head out. Maybe you can get an optional moon roof to open.

Electronics fail,.. computers crash,...  on a Segway you can hop off...
In the egg,.. you'll just drop...

Plus,.. if I'm going in a plastic box,.. I want air-conditioning...

I'll take a Mini-Cooper.... or, if I win the lottery, a Lotus Elise... Cool...

PS...
have you seen these?...

The following is copied from the site:

Quote:
Using electronically-controlled gyroscopes located under the floor – generating over 1,300 ft.-lb. of torque – the C-1 balances at a stop and stays upright, even in a collision. In-hub, direct-drive electric motors (20 kW) provide power and regeneration, while center-hub steering keeps you pointed in the right direction.

With a top speed of 100+ MPH and battery packs providing up to 200 miles per charge, the C-1 is perfect for commuters and city dwellers alike.

Cool tech but more stuff to go wrong.  I have to admit that 200 miles on a charge is better than most electrics I've been seeing out there, as well as a higher top speed than I need.  That would honestly be a useful daily commuter if it's not overly expensive and that's the gotcha in the deal.

I dont think there has been anyone wanting a motorcycle with doors.

I'd like a small 2 cyl 400 or so with belt drive and Fuel injection. Semi sporty and 100 mpg @ 60 mph. A GS00 for 2012 instead of 1983.

Economical should be economical over the entire life of it ... Should be cheap to make, cheap to use, cheap to insure, cheap to repair, cheap to run in belts and tires and oil and maintenance.
We should keep it as the only vehicle and just get on it and ride it.
We should be able to ride it in the rain - the work world needs to be aware and accomodate it - they do in most of the third world, and the freaking weather ... we need to have good cold gear. Heated gear that isn't a nightmare to put on.
Cool.
Srinath.

Here's a vid on the Lit C-1.  Pretty cool technology, it'll be cool to see what type of vehicles come from it in the future.
