This is proboly a dumb question but if you get saddlebags can you still use your helmet lock? If not does anyone have any ideas for an alternative helmet lock?

thanks

What I did when I had saddlebags.. I removed the helmet lock and moved it to behind the back rest, and just screwed it in where the back padding is screwed in, have to put it at an angle, but it's been like that for a few months now and still holding Smiley

Also my helmet just slips over the top of the sissy bar.. so it's locked on and not dangling by the straps

The bags usually do block the lock on the bike.  I have seen the lock moved to a couple of other places.  I thought about moving it myself, maybe to the forward controls, maybe to the sissy bar, but any flat place will do.  Others get gun locks, the cable type and lock their helment to the handlebars.  I think there are weights in the bars that make it difficul to put the locks on the bar ends, though some have probably done that.

I usually just hang the helment on the handlebars.  No one messes with a bad biker dude's stuff.  Of course they do not know I am not a bad dude, they just have to guess.

This has been mentioned before but if you go to your local police department and tell them you want a hand gun lock they usually give you one. It was part of Operation Child Safe here at least.

They make great helmet locks.

Side note: I did a google search for "operation child safe gun lock" so I could find a picture. Those images are taken from Satellite Beach Police Department which is where I grew up.

I had the Suzuki windshield on the bike until I did the chopper kit and it wouldn't fit anymore. I made up a bracket that bolted into the windshield fork mount so that the lock sat below the mount. I could then lock the helmet up and have it sit on the signal light. Worked a charm. Now I have an aftermarket lock that I put on the sissy bar.

If someone needs my smelly old helmet that badly, they can have it. I live in a helmet optional state so if someone takes mine, I just ride home without it. Could be a problem if I was in a Helmet law state.

This one has gotten a lot of decent reviews lately.  Don't have one myself so I cant say anything from personal experience though.  This is the rubberized version with cable.  They also sell it in just anodized and without the cable.  Price seems to vary quite a bit at different outlets.  Click on the image to go to the DK site.
