Has anyone repacked their Raask?

I can't seem to find the 1/4th in thick fiberglass tubes (socks) that work best with the repack, and I've wasted 2 rolls of regular repack.. $30 down the drain... where the hell do you get those darn socks?

Ask Raask. (sorry, couldn't resist.)
Have you checked out fiberglass pipe wrap?

I'm inclined to agree with arteacher--ask Raask. If regular glass matting sheets aren't working for you I'm not sure you have any better recourse than Mr. Raask himself.

Raask doesn't use the standard fiberglass squares, he uses the "sock" type of 1/4th in fiberglass... which I'm having no darn luck finding... I have already asked him, and he vaguely states "you can find them at muffler dealers"... The Mysterious Mr. Raask

Stop using fibreglass and use stainless.

I would give ceramic packing a try. It would definitely last longer then fiberglass packing does.

I've never heard of there being a difference in sound between fibreglass and stainless and I can't seem to find any "vs." results in a google or YouTube search. If there is a difference, it can't be by much. Fibreglass is mainly used because it's cheap and it needs constant replacement - good for the people selling you exhausts.

One thing you can try with a total cost of three or four bucks is to use stainless steel scrubber pads. They come three to a pack at Walmart for maybe 2-3 bucks per pack.
-- Cheap
-- Deadens noise about 80% as well as GOOD fiberglass
-- Lasts 10 times as long as fiberglass, which isn't saying much if you are starting off with EMGO fiberglass packing
-- Sometimes it corrodes in a few months,.. sometimes it lasts for thousands of miles. I guess they don't control the alloys very precisely for scrubbers.
See this thread for how I packed the EMGO muffler RYCA supplied us. It is in reply #247.
