That is not an open space.....it is the shiny front of the chrome battery box.

Between the battery box and the jug. is open space for your after market air cleaner.

Nothing has changed......The same carb, battery box, etc. is all in place. There is no more room on the 2013 than on any other Savage. The only open space is below the float bowl of the carb.

Someday I will be old......But not today!

"MIKUNI BS40, single" Besides, the carb ain't broken. If they are going to make improvements, they should address the things that are, like the cam chain and associated apparatus.
