Water logged?

Recently I have had problems with my starter switch so I got fed up and had a look at where the wire bundle from the control box connects under the tank and I got a hand full of water pour out when I disconnected it and the resulting picture. Why? And how do I fix this.

It's been a while since I have removed the tank on my bike. If I remember correctly, there should be a rubber boot to cover the connectors. I always put dielectric grease on all connectors to help keep moisture out.

YOu can remove each wire from the block by reaching in from the back side with a slim screwdriver, like a jewelers screwdriver, & tripping the retainer. Then you can clean them up or find replacements FIRST before you take them off & replace them if theyre too far gone to just clean them up. & before you cut a wire, make sure you have enough room to spare that part of an inch in length,

Then, fashion a shield & put it on there,

Ive seen the troubles youve had.. they arent typical. Once you get these issues worked out, youll have a decent bike,

You can always swap the connector to a bunch of bullet connectors....
Probably cheaper than a  replacement multi...

... and no more scuba rides... Huh...

Relay harness, needs to be cleaned per Justin's post, wrapped in plastic once reconnected. Tape the plastic to the wire bundle, zip tie the mess to the frame. And pray that it didn't already eat the relay, causing an internal short that prevents starting AND kills batteries.

Been there, done that, retired my bike.

Or worse yet, causing a short and make the bike start cranking over on it's own while UN-attended like mine did.

Still sorting out a few details on the solid state replacement for that relay/timer box otherwise known as the decomp controller.  Should have the prototype done up here in the next few weeks.
