First long ride
09/17/12 at 15:12:36

I have ridden over 4,000 miles so far this year. Most of this is commuting/in-town short trips. Today, I went for a longer ride- 200 miles round trip. Albuquerque through Santa Fe to Los Alamos and back.

Observations:

I need a windshield. The wind is too blowy at higher speeds for long distance.

The seat really sucks. I know about the mod, but I will probably go with a Corbin.

I will probably upgrade the rear shocks too. My back is killing me.

The bike handles nicely on the back roads at lower speed. It really is a lot of fun. For a few hundred bucks, this bike can really be improved.

If you can,... try a Corbin before buying...
Some people really like them,.. I find them way too firm and shaped weird... (I'm a lightweight, skinny butt)...
You can try a 2" front lift for a couple of dollars... it works real good for me...
JMHO... Huh...

How long did you try the Corbin?  It gets softer as it breaks in.  Took mine about 2000 miles before it got really really comfy

It was on Gery's bike... so he had it well broke in...

If I try to break in a seat with my butt,... the seat breaks my butt in... Grin...

Possibly consider an Airhawk attachment rather than a whole new seat. Just google Airhawk seat. If you ever change bikes you can continue to use the Air Hawk.

Before buying a new seat or change up the shocks, try an AirHawk seat pad.  It makes a world of difference.  After 430 miles in one day, I arrived  at my destination with a smile on my face.  Go to biker cushion.com and get a $50 discount.  You do NOT want the AirHawk 2 as it is plastic versus neoprene. I will not ride without one for longer distances.  I am spoiled! Cheesy
