fitting custom gas tank

Hi, Has anyone fitted a custom gas tank? I have a Sporty Frisco Mount Chopper Motorcycle Gas Tank that I would like to fit to my Savage. Has anyone fitted on of these?

Cheers Paul

I'd search for Demin. I believe this is the same tank he used in one of his builds.

My tank(s)have a little bit different mounting tabs on them. But that shouldn't be a problem.
This is the first '87 I did.I welded a connector nut(just a nut about 2" long) to the back bone where I wanted it to sit.The rear mount,I used the mount from the stock tank and welded it to the Sporty tank.

The tank mounts you have are like the ones on my Saga tank on the '86.All I did,for the front mount was drill and tap a 3/8ths hole in the back bone and bolted it in there. The rear I had to custom make mounts because I had to change out some of the backbone. But on yours I would just weld a tab farther back to go into the stock tank location.

And the one I'm doing now has rubber front mounts.Just welded a tab on the rear to bolt into the little crossbrace where the seat/stock mount go.
Rear mount

Bolt hole at the bottom of the pic are the front mount bolts.
