This is second post as a newbie....thanks to all who replied to my last post asking for info and parts sources.
I just installed a tachometer on my 2001 Savage and I am amazed that my bike is reving 4,000 RPM at 60 MPH. The RPM drop between gears is as follows: 1-2 shift- 1000 RPM, 2-3 shift - 1000 RPM, 3-4 shift - 500 RPM, 4-5 shift - 250 RPM. With the torque these thumpers make I want to lower RPM's in top gear so my engine is spinning at around 3,200 RPM at 60 MPH. Is there a chain drive conversion out there for these suzuki savages? What is the ratio of the belt drive setup? Thanks in advance for any info, advice and parts sources.
Most guys do the chain conversion to get more top speed, at the sacrifice of low end grunt. I am curious as to why you want to do it.
Fuel economy is dependent on throttle opening, not RPM. You will have the throttle open further to maintain speed at lower RPM.
Final reduction is 2.596 (68/23). That is not the tooth ratio.
