just got home from camping at tha lake...

We went to Pymatuning State Park, tent camping for the weekend. Lake was almost deserted ... level was i think 30 some inches down - actually worked out well for us - not many people there, i have a canoe and a little 14 ft boat - we were able to use the ramps where bigger boats couldn't. (Saw a  guy tip his nice big pontoon boat off the trailer <CRASH> - water level too low = ramp too steep - pontoons "bottomed out" at the top of the boat ramp)

Had great weather - kids said it's the best camping trip ever!   Smiley Smiley Smiley

Ridemore and I were at Ipperwash Beach a few weeks ago and saw a funny boat launch there.
Macho guy in a Ford Explorer backs out his boat trailer on the sandy bottom to launch his boat. He backs it out too far and drops the back of his truck off the sand bar, and gets it stuck. Hero #1 backs out with his Jeep Wrangler, hooks up a tow strap and promptly grinds his wheels down into the sand. Hero#2 backs out in some kind of pickup with huge wheels, hooks up to the Explorer and gets nowhere.
Finally hero#3, with a tractor, backs out, hooks up too Jeep, and with difficulty, pulls him out alone. Then the same for the pickup with the huge wheels. Then he hooks up to the Explorer with trailer but without the boat, and with great difficulty, pulls him out. The Explorer owner opened his door and about 50 gallons of water poured out.
The Ford and the Jeep will probably need their differentials dried out.
Most boat owners who launch into the lake have a tractor, or a group will share one.

Art those kind of launches happen on a regular basis along the Ohio River down here. Mostly townies from Louisville or another big city that come down for the weekend two or three times each summer. Us locals just sit Cool and watch!

Somebody posted one very similar.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3goRfcrj1WA&feature=player_embedded And it was Ipperwash, not Grand Bend, which is about 12 miles north.
