How I shot my bike...

Huh...
Long story...
I have a slow leak in the front tire,.. so, I roll into the shop to air it up...
... but my old Monkey Wards compressor has a leaky hose... (just bought that sucky hose a year ago, Harbor Freight)...
so,..  I take the old one off, and in the process of tightening the new one on,.. the pot metal connection box cracked...
Buhh!... air leaking eberywhere...
I hunted around and found a quick-connect with a longer thread, so I tried that..
It solved 3/4 of the leak...
... but still leaking...
So,... I tried getting the connection box off... No way...
So,.. I got this tube of epoxy putty,...(the kind you mush about to activate)... and I mold it all around the box,.. and then, just to be sure, I tighten a hose clamp into the putty...
.. and then,... I mush a little extra putty in the threaded hole before I attach the quick-connect...
Great!...
.. but it occurs to me that I might have blocked the air hole now with the putty...
...and sure enough,.. barely any air is passing...
And with a stroke of genius, I decide to shut off the output and let some pressure build in the tank to blow out the blocked epoxy before it dries...
Now, it's a race... can I build up the pressure before the epoxy hardens?...
It's one of those old chugalug compressors that sounds like toy tractor...
chugga, chugga, chugga...
I get it up past 100psi and without thinking open the valve...
It takes about 2 seconds,.. and Whoomph!...
I forgot to aim... and shot my bike...

I been looking for while,.. and can't find where the epoxy slug hit...
Maybe it ricocheted off somewhere...
Anywho.. it's too dang hot to look anymore...

I'll search again tomorrow,.. by then the epoxy will be dried and I can test the compressor too...
Huh...

PS.. update... just found the epoxy slug.. it ricocheted and hit me about an inch from the bottom of my pants...
...looks to be about 222 calibre...  Grin...

Boofer,

I don't think that you should insult the Bot like that.  He is a great wrench, and probably knows as much about our beloved bikes as anyone on this site.

Well,, Ill be danged,, I never even considered that!

What do you do, Rowboat?

I doubt seriously there is a single Suzuki dealership wrench who rides one of these. If there are any, I would be proud of them for appreciating the bike in the face of what I would expect to be a good deal of peer pressure,.
