I was able to buy a new 2011 s40 for only $4500. I bought new because I am not much of a mechanic and I liked the idea of a warranty. Plus I am new to cycleing and didnt know enough about motorcycles to pick out a good used one. After saying all of that if I had a chance to go back and find a good used one I proboly would have still bought a new one. Suzuki gave me 100% financing with 2 lemits and a vest and at 0% interest so I couldnt pass that up. By the way I havent had much problems with backfiring either. I am tall (6'2") I eventually I will invest in some forward controls but for the most part i have bee really happy with the bike. Its not the best bike for riding 2 up but by yourselfe its great. I have been averaging between 50 and 55 mpg's so its very affordable to ride. Good luck

Ya im going to go ahead and purchase a new vehicle, problem is its priced at around 6200 + taxes which comes up to like ... 7200/7300 ..... i know a little pricey here .. so waiting for the price to be lowered and the stock is very low for the new 2012 here in canada.. worst case scenario i get the 2013 model at the same price next year Smiley

Some folks have been theorizing there may not be a 2013 LS650.

Kalm, if the Halifax machine is under five grand and you anticipate paying over seven, would it do any harm to find out what if anything the Halifax guy would charge to ship it your way?

Well its cause i was hoping to get the other two-tone selection they have (orange and black), not too into the silver/white two tone version .. looks a little plain for me .. but also just the hassle of having to deal with someone long distance, let's say if something was wrong with the bike and what not, id much rather be dealing with someone locally, that way i can insure that the transaction goes over smoothly, plus shipping i think would be quite a bit for a vehicle that size.

warranty is only a year or 6 months Canadian time due to snow.
Would not any dealer honour a suzuki warranty?
But good luck with the hunt, we will still keep our eyes open for you.

I have had a Yamaha 250, 2 Yamaha 650's and a Suzuki TU250. I now have a 2012 Suzuki S40 and think it is the best bike I have owned so far. I am going to leave this one stock except for the K&N air filter. Got tired of the loud pipes I had on the Yamaha's. I like the S40 because it is almost as light as a 250, but has more get up and go. One of my 650's was converted to a Voyager trike and didn't like it, the other was a Cass County of Missouri trike conversion. Didn't like it, no rear suspension. So went back to 2 wheels with S40. At 68 years old it works for me. Have added engine guards and highway pegs. Am working on trying to figure out how to get floorboards on it. By the way this bike will do 100MPH at least that's what the speedo said, but I believe it was more around 95-97MPH. Most motorcycle speedos are always wrong.

If you are keen to get one, make a discrete call to the Amhurst/Halifax guy and see if he has black and orange ones. His ad mentions stock, so he may have more than one bike. Then see your local guy and see if some sort of deal can't be worked out between the three of you. I agree with Zippy in that the local guy should honour Suzuki servicing and warranty. I looked at a site last night which showed black and orange as a 2011 colour. Finally beware of people in foreign countries trying to persuade you to buy motor bikes.

My 2012 Suzuki S40 is black and orange. I preferred it over the blue and white one.
