I broke down a Chinese bolt action .22 training rifle I was refinishing at the time. Put the parts in the saddle bag and the barrel in a pool cue case on my back. Zero incident.

It's really rare for me to leave the house with a gun. Usually it's two.

It's a very different culture in parts of the US compared to most of Canada (Alberta the probable exception).

It's obvious to me now that someone who carries a gun when they aren't riding will ride with it. Why wouldn't they?

You guys are missing the point completely. In the wild west it was fair to request a duel if someone gave you a dirty look and therefore you'd be pretty stupid not to carry a side-arm. In today's times we have these things called laws.

Please, tell me, how many of you guys have stopped bank robberies? OK, maybe that's pushing it. How about a liquor-store robbery? Corner-store? How many of you have been mugged and managed to draw your side-arm and fire it before the mugger put three in your chest?

Didn't think so. Guns are for protection during home/property-invasions where you have the upper hand. Any other time, you're gonna be a statistic. Carrying guns is nothing more than an ego booster.
