Dumped my bike... Need some parts!
08/10/12 at 13:52:18

I dropped my 87 Savage at about 25 mph on gravel last week.  Stupid mistake on my part, the bike faired much better than me.  I shattered my collarbone.

All I need for the bike is a Left front peg, a clutch handle, and a shock.  If anyone has any of these items, please email me.  I won't be riding for at least 4-6 weeks, but I want to be ready to enjoy the fall weather.

Are there any aftermarket pegs that would work?  I am new to this, but I have read a few things.  I saw some on EBay I liked, but not sure if they would fit.

I also need a cover for the battery.  I don't have a "tool box", but is it the same thing?

Is the shattered collarbone worse than your shattered ego? It never is. Just be happy you're good to ride again. Onto business.

Do you have all of the parts to your foot-peg? If so, I'll be more than willing to send you my clutch lever and foot-peg if you send me your damaged peg. I'm already running a repaired right foot-peg so I couldn't care less if my left one is repaired as well. The rear shock? If yours is only damaged cosmetically, I'll be more than happy to trade that as well. I may be using rear-shocks on my build so I must have a working one but I don't care what it looks like.

This is my give-away thread if you don't think I'm serious about giving all of this stuff away:

Let me know.

that's pretty darn nice of you Mike, unfortunately the peg is actually gone.  I saw it bent straight up on the bike, but I had to send someone else to pick up the bike, and by the time it got home the peg was completely gone.  He said it must've fallen off when they were loading it.

I got your email, and I will respond to it.  my shock is fine, just a little dinged up on the top chrome piece.  clutch lever is also just scratched right at the front where the cable goes in.

I have decided that since I can't ride for a while, I will strip the bike down and "freshen" it up.  New paint, polished aluminum, new fork seals, etc.  I don't really want to modify it much, I really like it as it is, but I want it to look all shiny and sharp.

Thanks a lot Mike.  I love this site!  If I didn't have a thumper, I would have to go buy one.

Steve
