From IL/WI stateline area, just bought an '05. This is the 3rd one I've owned and will be the last as I'm 73 yrs old. This site is great except not being able to answer pm message, I'm kind of quiet so it will take me forever to get 10 posts unless posting drivel.  Want to order a set of fwd controls from ED L but can't readily communicate with him. Tech stuff is amazing here & used the 10 degree bend Harley muffler tip already, just armstronged the Harley mufflers on before, a Supertrapp is by far the best that I have used just hard to rationalize that expense.  Have done the carb & seat tricks on previous bikes. Going to put a set of Buckhorns on & I'll be set to go out in style. Smoke

In the interest of getting you to 10 posts, did you mean this is your third savage, or third bike in general? If you mean third savage, what happened to the other 2?

Although I may have previoulsy posted comments without any value.......I have never seen "drivel" spelled before.  Having now seen it in print.....I feel satiated.

It's my 3rd Savage/s40. I tend to sell in early winter then regret it & buy another one. First bike was an 1946 Indian Chief in 1954, sold it for $50 but then $50 was $50. First time I saw a Savage was when I was going through Lone Rock WI. & I turned around to see what it was, had to have one then. It just remimded me of the old BSAs & Triumphs which were out of reach when I was a boy.
