whining is serious, let me tell you.
pick yourself up a low mileage Singer the 1st chance you get.
Some of us did actually get the Singer (as in sewing machine) reference.

OK I checked the drive pulley nut---tight as it should be, washer folded over against the flat, like it should be. So I guess I can assume the whining and knocking are internal. Bad bearing or some such thing.
Seems strange, with only 24,000 miles on it, that a major bearing would go bad. Oh well, I fear this winter might be time to part the bike out. Unless any of you kind souls are giving away motors....ah, hahahaha.
Too many other things wrong with it to be dumping another $1200 into it.

I am in the process of repairing a 2007 engine that has a bad left side crank bearing......it started making noise with only 400 miles on the bike. When I took it apart I found the flywheel nut which is supposed to be torqued to 100 ft.lbs.....was only finger tight. I am sure the loose flywheel was making as much noise as the bearing.

Find out what the engine weighs, call around & see what it would cost,, the seller doesnt dictate freight costs,
Keyboard brought my bike from Minnesota to texas for $600.00..
Get the zip code for the seller & the weight of the engine, haulers can quote a price from that.
