Toyota Previa, hauled me, my Newfie, oh the wife and three kids when I remembered them.  Sold it at 249,996 miles as it finally need some work - the front suspension was rusted and McPherson Struts can be so demanding.

I've been driving (and working on) a 1983 MBz 240D (123 chassis) for over 10 years - I don't think a better vehicle was ever built on this planet

My 1959 Alice Chalmers tractor has been great for many decades, hot cold rain shine mud dry.....reliable old girl has done everything a tractor was designed for and many things it wasent.. even survived going completly under water when the brake failed on a hill.....what a day that was.....drain fluids several times......back to running great. Its amazing how tuff a tractor is!

1967 Pontiac GTO... <----That alone explains it.  Nothing I have ever owned has compared to the way this would feel driving it. White w/ black interior. 15X275's on the rear, 14X205's on the front. 4 inch exhaust from the headers to the turn downs just past the doors. It wasn't in anyway original. had a 60's chevelle bench seat, column & Pontiac 350 (2bbl carb) with a TH350 tranny. Wanted to put the tri-power on it, just never had enough to fork over $2,000 for carbs & a manifold, then rebuild them. Lost my baby in a divorce. I got her from a drag racer that used it for a parts car his his other GTOs. He put it together like this for his son. Then his son sold it to a friend of his. Didn't finish paying for it. So i picked it up for $450.00, a 27inch tv & a mossburg 500 ATP (Riot).

1981 Daimler Sovereign, aka a Jaguar XJ6 with the Sunday best, licensed LBH 575Y

(library pictures)

4.2 liter DOHC straight six with "banana headers" (high flow performance manifold) electronic fuel injection and a good 210 fire-breathing ponies...

4-wheel disc brakes, LSD and independent rear suspension  Cool

Light blue metallic paint with navy blue leather and a veneer fascia which was one solid plank, cut for the glove compartment lid.

Cruising at 70mph all I could hear was wind rush from the passenger's rear view mirror, and the clock ticking in the console... Cool

Whereas many survive in the UK, most Jaguars exported to the US met a very sad ending, being blownup or driven off cliffs in "Magnum, PI" and similar serials... Embarrassed

I miss my old Leaping Cat...

Have to agree the slant 6 was a great engine just like the ford 289 and chevy 283....to good. I had both v-8s high 20 mpgs with a kid driving and no cruise. Add FI today and they would get upper 30s....easy and they sure sounded great at 8k rpm!!

I seriously loved the 283 in my '65 Chevy Biscayne.  I had a '59 Ford F100 with a straight-six 223 that was a pretty solid engine too.  They sure were a heck of a lot simpler then.  No smog gear or computers; not even electronic ignitions.  Much simpler to work on with a lot more room under the hood to access stuff.  ***wistful sigh***

Yup it was a slant 6. With F.I. And modern plugs who knows how long that engine would last before you had to do anything more that lubrication maintenance. No car I have owned since comes close to that car's reliability and build quality.
And I'm a Chevy fan  Grin

Hello Pine. May I suggest you try and keep your Jaguar hoping for better days, when you'll have time etc,. to get her fixed.

Sure, she may not have had the sheer bhp of a 289/300 cu.in V8, but with a Jaguar chassis, suspension and brakes you could run circles around any V8 sedan of its day.
AND get much better mpg, too...

The jaguar's DOHC straight six comes right out of the racing world, and just pop the hood and you'll see what I mean.
Everything's there for you to see, inspect and service, nothing is hidden from view, and the oil and water passageways are built to work regardless of circumstances.
I have NEVER heard of a Jaguar to be written off because of a mechanical malfunction. If that were the case, it's only to blame on a very poor mechanic.
In fact, the engine is so strong and reliable it was used for the British Fox and ferret armored cars of the 1950s/60s.

This car, the Jaguar XK 120/140 introduced in the early 1950s, was so fast, she would smoke anything in the US until Carrol Shelby produced the Cobra.

On the other hand, if you MUST sell her, then there's the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club (JEC) and the Jaguar Drivers' Club (JDC) both of which I was a member.
http://www.jec.org.uk/
http://www.jaguardriver.co.uk/

Or the Jaguar Owners' Club of America
http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/
http://www.jcna.com/

You can advertise with them and I'm sure you'll find a solution.
Cool
PS What year and what spec is the car ?
