They aren't worn much, at least according to the handy dandy wear indicator on the wheel. The front ones are new within the last 1000 miles. They only squeal occasionally.

Got rid of the stock fronts a long time ago and have never looked back.
Although, drilling the disc is supposed to fix that. So now I got to find a set that I haven't worn down to glue and give it a try.

Kevlar pads if you can find them, or the generic name.
My favorite are "X" brand.

Also, my rears don't squeal, not a bit. brake a few times, get them real hot. and use them when ever you can. keeps the moisture off I think.

From stop sign to stop sign on my town's block or just inching along in traffic jams and they always squeal. Maybe I should just replace them. I wonder if they're glazed?

Finally fed up with it, I took the hose to it at lunch today and lots of black brake dust was washed out of the hub. Didn't squeal at all on the way back to work either, must've just been real dirty in my case

California Gender:	Re: Brake squeal Reply #10 - 07/19/12 at 14:30:19 Ima gonna haf to show a mod ima ben testin for about a year now. saw it on some dirt bike brakes and thought it could solve our problem. the lead edge of the brake pad is sharp and angled so dust is moved to the open end rather than being scooped back into the pad.

I was just using a spray nozzle and hit the rear drum where it attaches to the hub, spraying from as far forward as possible...had the nozzle next to the motor and spraying almost parallel to the bike.

Helped with mine... Huh

I've done this on ft pads on a few cars that were problematic with squeaking. But it won't help with rear shoe squeaks...
