That's funny you ask. The best one can be found right here on these forums. verslagen1 has them.

the tensioner has fallen apart, but it's not the tensioner... it's the chain.
I mod the tensioner to get more life out of the chain in the marketplace.

If you buy Verslagen1's modified tensioner you can delay the chain replacement,  if not then your only option is to replace the chain and use your stock tensioner.  Verslagens' tensioner has an extra hole welded onto it to allow the adjustment to go out to the point where Suzuki says the chain is actually at it's full service life.

Oh I see. do you have to do any additional mods to get it to mount or is it a swap out. I contacted him on price if my e-mail went through.

Nope no mods,  it's a direct bolt in swap.

He's saying that he never bothered to read up on the subject and has never used the Table of Contents in the TECH SECTION to find:

Cam Chain Issue Library

so he blew $100 several years too early.   That's OK, he doesn't have to put it in right away, he can read the stuff now and understand the whole topic a lot better.

Take that new chain & put it in a jar & cover it with oil, seal it up & hang it up out of the way,, or, save your "old" chain & in 25 or 30 thousand miles, when this one is worn out, put the old one back in,

New to bikes guys just trying to figure it out. Seemed like asking people who knew was a good idea. Am use to cars and the timing chain had approx. 3" of play. I just guessed that was extreme. Someone on this site said the reason my tensioner went was because of the chain. I thought it was a good idea.

Actually, our tensioner can only accomodate about half of the wear life of the chain, but we have ways of handling that.

No, nobody would give you any flack for being a newbie.   Just go to Tech Section, up at the top where it says Table of Contents with Links, start reading the list headings looking for Lube, Maintenance and Tune Up, scan down that list and find

Find TDC... the easy way...       jest click on it, linky linky

It is really easy, we made it that way so folks like you can find things.

However, if you go around blowing $100 here and there, that we will might give you a little grief for  (mainly because we are jealous that you can do it so casually so you must be pretty well off compared to the rest of us working stiffs)

Wink

You can pull the plug & poke a straw in & move the rear tire till it come up as far as it will go, & if the valves ( all 4 of them) are closed, thats TDC compression,,
OR,, You can pull the timing cover & look at the marks & do it the right way,,
BUT,, before you start back together, check & make sure the piston hasnt moved..
Put the lumpy side down,,
