I'm 240#, if I change to a performance carb, I've done 95 up this hill.
and that wasn't topped out.

Weight, affects acceleration more than top speed...  You size may cause more wind resistance... and that will limit top speed...
It will take you longer to get up to top speed...

Do you really want to go 95mph?...
Tickets are pricey up there... the ride is unpleasant... the bike will gobble oil... and crashes are more painful..

Find a really long, deserted road... tuck-in like paint, and WFO the throttle...
Then, don't ever do it again... Grin...

I tried for top speed just once, over 5 years ago... just to see...
I got to 94mph... (for about 10 seconds, then ran out of road)...
(tucked, one hand on the bars, chin on the tank,)
I'm a fairly skinny 140lbs...
I haven't seen 80mph since... 99% under 65mph...

80mph is plenty...

I weigh 205# and with the 100# wife on the back I still get over 90. It doesn't accelerate as hard anymore, but still gets to about the same top speed. I say try a different compression gauge.

They'll break the ton. Occasionally. IF everything is perfect (temp, humidity, fuel quality, etc). Years ago I stripped mine down as light as it could get, tucked as tight as I could and broke the ton by a good bit. Knowing it was going to screw up the engine, this things barely a cruiser, not even remotely a sport bike.

With the way it is set up now, my bike tops out around 75mph. But it's also all day comfortable now. If I could chase down all the electrical gremlins from years of flogging it, it would probably be a nice bike again.

Get another toy handy before you go balls out on it... it's likely to become a fancy mailbox stand.

A couple of weeks after I got my '95(which had only 8300+ miles on it)I was heading in to work on I-71. I got behind a line of 18 wheelers starting up a fair grade. By the time we 1/3 the way up we were down to60mph and I'm like "screw this". I eased out and rolled the throttle on without downshifting out of 5th. Hit the top, eased back in the right lane and glanced at the clock. It was showing 92mph. That's also with a Memphis Shades windshield and saddlebags and I weigh 160#.

Oh! And I still had throttle left to twist!

I have had mine at 119 according to the other guy's speedos. But since I have done the re-jetting in Miami Fl.,I can only get 98 now. My bike is lighted up as much as I can, keep in mind i'm looking between the risers & tucked in to the bike.

Redline stock is 6500rpm...@97.3mph...

Your friends speedo is way,way off...
119mph would be nearly 8k rpm...
135mph close to 10k rpm...
It ain't gonna' happen...
You're on a thumper, dude...

My Ninja 500 topped at about 120mph @11.5k...
135mph is 600 crotch rocket speed...

Only way a Savage will ever see those speeds is if you drop it out of a plane... Grin...

Why people want to go that fast on a little thumper anyway? Plenty of rice burners out there just waiting to get you pulled over.

I just want to go fast enough. For me, that means being able to comfortably pass someone on the highway instead of hanging along side them in their blind spot for a minute while I try and pass.

That, and I want to get as much out of the bike as I can. Do I normally need 90mph? no, but I also don't need 60mph most days, however I think both you and I would be pissed if our bikes suddenly couldn't do 60.
