A bold statement !
While it is true that AGM has a slower "self discharge" rate than lead acid, only those that get charged (ridden) regularly, need "never" be charged,.........if you are looking to get maximum life from it.
The #1 killer of batteries is not being fully charged 100% of the time, which as we know most all batteries are not.
If a battery (AGM or LA) could stay fully charged all the time, its useful life can/will easily be extended to 8-12 yrs.
This is why any battery that spends its down time on a good maintainer charger (13.2-4v max) can outlast a "normally used" battery 3-5X.
No, not a battery expert, but I have taken an interest in battery longivity many yrs ago, and have proven the above to be true many times.
