That was actually my 5th one this year, and the biggest (11 buds).   I was sitting on my stool twiddling on the bike, and got up to go get a tool when I saw him behind me.   Supposedly, you can sell them to anti-venom companies, but I've never tried.  My all time biggest was 14 buds a few years ago.

Up around Alpine Texas theyre green. Theyre beautiful, but Ohh dang theyre mean,, I had one strike at me as I rode by,, I was running over 40 MPH & he still made me move my foot off the peg,,
I went back & picked up rocks & started skimming them low across him,, he finally got mad & struck at one,, OOOPS,, knocked himself silly.. I went & stood on his head & cut his body off of it,,

I skinned the one you see here, and plan to make a hat band for my lucky fishing hat (head and rattle intact).   The bigger one I got a few years ago I found under my pickup.  He was 1 inch shy of 5 feet.   I started poking at him with a stick to get him out from under the truck and he took off at me at full speed, chasing me for about 30 feet.  I covered the distance like an Olympic class runner. - definitely got my heart pumping!
