Big Crank Install question

Okay, this is for all you Big Crank battery users. Just got the Big Crank ETX15L that is supposed to be the swap for the Savage in the mail today and went to install it. My main question is if you used the spacers that came with it or not.
The instructions clearly state that the "spacers are required for side mount cable installation only! The top mount terminal position does not require the round spacers, use supplied bolts only"
Pretty straight-forward; however, the boxy-bent terminals on the cable ends of the Savage prevents good contact on the top-mount position of the terminal UNLESS you use the spacers.
If I use said spacers do I risk ruining the battery?
I'd really rather not throw $70 down the drain over something so simple/stupid. Any help or advice on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
At the moment it is installed top-mount with spacers and on the battery tender to fully charge up.

Wow! Has been a long week and the 110 degree heat must have fried the brain. Yep, bent a tab on each end and voila, fits beautifully. Thanks JoG
