Looking for a salvage yard (Read 109 times)

There are a ton online but they always want to know exactly what part you are looking for, I have no idea what I am looking for. I am looking for any part that looks cool and I think I can make work on my new project. Any ideas for motorcycle salvage yards near Charleston SC?

Well,, I understand what youre wanting,, but how can anyone transfer from their mind the ability to pick out what looks cool to them? You need to walk around & look & when your eye falls on "The Answer" youll know it, but no one can do that for you.,,.

Id spend some time looking at online pics of old bikes & when you see something you like, write down what year & model bike has it & then go looking for it,

Not quite local, but if you get up this way, stop on in! I dig through my local HD custom chopper shop's parts. He has tons of take-offs. If you have one of those, you may find something as well.

I do have a harely shop a few miles from my house, never been there but I guess I could give it a try. really what I am looking for are seat pans, fenders, and handlebars.

They have a showroom where you can request your parts. I got a used brake lever. I mentioned that I didn't know what I wanted and just like to look and say "hey, I can make that work". I was told it would be no problem. It was closing time, so I didn't do it then. I will take a tour the next time I am down that way.

Don't limit yourself to just Harley dealerships though. What I did was Google Motorcycle Repair for my local area and called them all to see if they have extra parts laying around for sale. For example My 2 in. risers were $30 normally $150 off a 2011 Vulcan 900. Tell them you're making a custom bobber, chopper, cafe racer etc and they'll have all kinds of cool advice. They probably like working on something that isn't factory at least that's been my experience.
