That's the way it is here right now.  I've stopped mid upgrade on all my lighting because of the heat and haven't been able to ride in about a week now.  I'm wishing now I had a garage or something to work in where at the cover and fan would do some good.

Anybody know a place to get a good price on chain, tension & guide? Bikebandit wants 113 for chain, 40 for guide, and 72 for tensioner....

You dont need a tensioner,,relax!
If youre tite on $$$ rite now, you could get your tensioner Verslavied,, ( I KNOW thats a word!) & just do that & start shopping for a chain & guide for the day when the Verslavy just doesnt keep it tite enough,

I have a chain, used, dont remember the measurement, but, w/o a Verslavy, IIRC, I think it woulda made another 5,000 miles,. Id let it go Chip..or Ill use it when I sell the bike,

& when you get your new gasket, just stick it on the side cover & let that dry solid, grease the inside. No gasket needed after that.,

bikebandit lists it as the tension. Im not saying the tension assembly(plunger), i mean the cam chain tensioner arm on the rear side of the engine where the chain rides.

Yep, rear guide is known as tensioner
remember, all these names are translated by someone who doesn't understand what they are.   Huh

Lol yeah I saw that too. Grin

Im gona just do it all. Replace chain, tensioner, guide & oil plug while im at it. I would hate to have to open it all up again for a single thing, and that way I know that it was all replaced at the same time.  I would hate to relplace just the guide and tensioner and the chain still be loose and then have to open it again, or remove the head, put it back on and then have it leak oil from the plug.

This is gona push back my completion date, but it will be worth it because I will know my engines standing. It will have cone filter, jet kit from lancer, exhaust, and all timing components relplaced, and I will check/adjust the valves as well on top off a new battery, and fork seals replaced... Roll Eyes

I like the blacked out look you've set up on the engine - thinking about doing the same.

Is there any prep-work I should be aware of besides cleaning/de-greasing?

What type of paint did you use?

- thanks

No nuthing special, just wash/degrease very good, then a light scuff to make sure the paint will stick. I used engine paint.
