A LH thread in that spot would be counter to all mechanical design.

Pretty sure you're right, JOG...
I just updated the "Lefty Thread" post in the Tech section... deleting the rotor bolt from the list...
So,... there's only two left hand threads on the Savage...
Primary drive, and shifter rod...
Sorry for the mistake... go Buck!... get that sucker unwound...

Hooray! It's loose. Only after soaking it in PB Blaster for a couple of days and laying onto it with several long rattles with my electric impact wrench. The rotor bolt uses standard, right hand (RH) threads -- counterclockwise (CCW) to loosen, cllockwise (CW) to tighten.
Next step is to apply the Suzuki Special Tool and remove the rotor from the flywheel. Then the flywheel comes off after that.

CCW to loosen good to confirm that my memory isn't that bad!
In the next step, as I didn't have any idea of what I was doing, I kept trying to loose the big 36mm with the impact wrench, I was lucky enough that the vibration release it, but with the proper tool will be way better and easier.
Keep us posted!

I can hardly stand the suspense!
Which way did you turn 'the 17mm from the center' to loosen it? Clockwise or Counter-clockwise?
Well I just removed the one on my bike......and it is a normal thread and turns anti-clockwise to remove. It has some long threads and it has Lock Tight on it.....so it is a bit stubborn for a while.
