If youre gonna mod the bike, why spend the $$ for a battery cover end?
Have you seen how Skeebo mounted his battery?
Bike soounds good, no sweat with where the muffler is,

Yeah, Skeebo has some pretty great ideas and custom parts that he's been making and fabricating for people here on the forum, and his price are very reasonable.
It's all simple bolt-on stuff too.
There's a lot you can do with a Savage to customize it with simple bolt-on parts. Makes it a great bike for NOOBs like yourself.
I think you're gonna have a lot of fun with this thang!!

If you decide ya wanna change the air filter for a less restrictive one, see Old Fellers home brew. I wish I woulda saved the $$$ I dropped on the K&N.

J_O_G2,
Can't find air filter post can you send link?
If I take off the front fender does it affect the forks? Will the forks get all wobbly if I leave it off?

Drop Old Feller a PM, he'll set ya straight.
I wouldnt ride a bike w/o a front fender, ever. I like the look of fenderless, a lot, but the dang things stop a lot of crap getting tossed up.
I have a fender AND a forkbrace. I saw better handling after the brace went on. One or 2 here say they dont agree. Others agree,, So,, up to you,,

I don't mind front fenders but the stock savage piece does nothin for me. I tried cutting it but it just got smaller and uglier. I think a fork brace with an integrated slim profile fender would look good on any style bike....hmmm

Thanks for the info I guess I'll try to take the fender off and see how she rides. If I don't like it I can always put the fender back on.
I'm looking to purchase a GoPro and when I do I'll get a video of the forks riding down the road with and without fender and then study the video for any differences.

I wouldn't worry about studying the video. You'll know a lot more from just the way it feels driving down the road. Pay attention to that. Drive down a variety of roads; flat, gravel, potholes, etc.
Lots of threads here about Fork Braces. I've used them and like them; others don't so much. It's up to you to decide if your ride has too much flex.
