Cap for Speedometer connection
06/13/12 at 23:10:38
I was wondering if anyone knew of a screw fit cap or something that I could use to block off the speedometer port on the engine? I just got my Trail Tech Vapor with indicator dashboard kit in today and plan on doing away with the stock speedo and most likely extending the key switch to that area, and would like to figure out a way to plug off the speedo port on the motor. Any non-ghetto looking suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If ya had one of the parts off a spare speedo cable you could cut a piece of metal to lay in the top & an O ring & youd be in business.

good suggestion. I may just do that with the stock speedo cable, as the trail tech unit being digital uses a magnetic sensor that is mounted to the front wheel.

I was cleaning an engine out of the frame and was scrounging around for caps for the various openings, found a flair tube fitting that fit perfectly. so maybe you could find a nice cap at ace hardware in the gas fittings section.

Will check into that before I butcher the speedo cable that someone may here may need.

Versy that's the trick! I think I have a few of those left over from my HVAC days. The copper would be perfect for that!

Any hydraulic shop should have a female cap that fits it. Looks to be pretty close to a FJIC-6. Might be a -4. Most likely a metric equivalent. Even NAPA should have the caps. Any place that makes Gates or Parker hydraulic hoses.
