I had 2 new events on Tuesday.  It was the first time I rode a motorcycle to one of my City Council meetings (I am the City Engineer, Building Inspector & Zoning Administrator), and it was the first time I rode with my new RevIt jacket.

The ride home was nice.....I wasn't freezing like I normally am when I ride at night!

Like most... Thumper is a commuter ride:
From home to work is 9.5 miles
2 miles nice 4-lane blacktop... just woods posted 50mph
3 miles 5 lane small industry park and a cemetary posted 40 mph
2 miles 5 lane small retail but very bumpy posted 40 mph
2 miles 4 lane lots of state buildings DOT and such posted 35 mph

Pull into a secluded area under my building ...
 in the shade
fully covered (three bikes park there)
walk 40 feet to my office

LIFE IS GRAND on the bike!  Cheesy

Otherwise I have to park nearly a 1/2 mile away in a stadium parking lot!   Undecided

It was actually decent enough to get out today, rode to a cookout today, rained on the way back though, not to big of a deal at all though. I really want the weather to get better so I can get out and ride more

You should leave for work about 20 minutes earlier.

Whew, yesterday was warm.  100 F with 108 heat index.  Took a look at the oil temp gauge and she showed 110 C with 95 F ambient after riding 55-60 MPH for 45 minutes.  Later at 100F ambient, after riding 45 minutes at 55-60 and then stoplight to stoplight for 10 minutes, she showed 130 C.  I think that's suppose to be redlined for some bikes and probably is shearing long-chains in dino juice but I'm gonna trust my Amsoil 20w50 synthetic.  I'll keep an eye on her though.

In a word, fantastic. Took a ride after work through the Kentucky horse farms that are close by. Why didn't one of you guys tell me how great riding was 40 years ago?

Nice long Father's day ride yesterday  Smiley

153 Miles, Sunny, mid 80's, but Very Windy  Huh

Took a loop up around through the local mountains, which dumped me out into a barren valley. Would've been a much better ride without all the cross winds. Had a short 10 mile stretch of frontage road that was in dire need of repair  Shocked hit a couple of pot-holes doing 50+ that gave some serious pucker of the seat. Stopped for some petrol and continued on around the local reservoir though lots of potato country.

Longest individual ride that I have ever taken, and the bike ran perfectly. But I am going to have to figure out something with my saddlebags...they kept blowing open with the cross winds. (these bags are a velcro closure only, and it doesn't hold well enough)

Go to wal-mart and get some super velcro and replace yours or get one of the snap kits in the hobby section.

rode to work today, it is ride to work day today, after I ride home it'll be about 56 miles, testing out my video cam, need to edit some stuff together and I'll post something, it's a boring ride though, straight, 90 degree turn, straight, turn into parking lot. . .  maybe some music will help . . .

Today was my very first ride on my 03 savage, the weather was great.
I went just out getting the feel of the bike. Its a fun ride.
I keep forgetting to turn off my indicators, keep looking at my tach instead of my speedo, look for foot pegs that arnt there. (used to my old cb750). So I think I got the hang of this and go home early morning, in the late afternoon its time for me to go to work....battery is flat due to me leaving the parking lights on  Embarrassed  Something else to get used to.

Saturday:

I taught my 14yo son how to ride the Savage.. he likes. Says its much easier that the standard tranny on the Tacoma I drive.  Next time out he wants to get out of first gear... Yeah I am slow to let him learn too fast.

I did a 30 mile trip to the BIG local bike shop. Bought some saddle bags and a little one to go over the sissy bar.  Great riding weather.
