And you have to plug or cap the vacuum hole on the right side of the carburetor.

HAHA...I didn't remember reading that anywhere previously, but good point to mention.  I figured that out when I realized there was no vacuum port on the Raptor petcock.  Tongue

@Bubbe

I was taught on a bike with a manual petcock. MSF even teaches FINE-C = Fuel, Ignition, Neutral, Electrical, Clutch as their starting procedure. I keep finding myself going to shut mine off now and have to stop myself.

I don't think my petcock has even been turned. I was out for a long ride a few weeks back, ran out of fuel, and that was a bear to turn to reserve.

They do get stiff, I would oil it & work it, till it worked a bit smoother.

I switch to prime when Im really needing reserve, because its easier to pull than push while Im riding,
& do that even if Im Not wanting reserve, just to make sure it works & I have access to that last bit of gas.

I had someone suggest to run it on "prime" all of the time Shocked.  That didn't sound right to me.

Any thoughts on that?  What say ye verslagen?

Nothing wrong with it... technically.  You just don't have a reserve.
But riding around with a problem, is riding with something that'll bite you in the @$$ someday.  It could mean running out gas at a inopertune moment and sitting on the side, or an F250 kicking your @$$ down the road.

Fix it! whether itza raptor, replace the vac line, or rebuild it with the kits I found.

Ordered the raptor and should get it tomorrow. Anyone know offhand what size cap needed to plug the vac on the carb? Mine is an '87 with about 22,000 miles (only about 500 is mine). Its my first bike and i love it.

Do more than just cap it... block the tube with something solid... the caps will rot away in just a couple months... don't know why...
Wink...
