How to clamp cherry bomb/thrush muffler
06/03/12 at 09:51:47
Let's say I wanted to install a cherry bomb or thrush muffler to my scooter. How would I clamp it down? The regular automotive clamps are ugly and would damage my head pipe. If I slit it, how would I seal it attractively? Welding a stud to the body should be easy enough for rear support, it is just the union that has me concerned.

I'd do it the same as I'd do a Dyna... wide, strong, band clamp...
C-Bomb will be really loud...

I was thinking band clamp. How loud is really loud? I don't want a straight pipe loudness, but am intrigued by the color and the style. Combined with tape on the header pipe, it may be what I am looking for.

If I remember right,.. Cherry Bombs are are glass packed, straight through mufflers (no baffle)... It will be barely less than open pipe... (that's setting off car alarms, loud)...
The clamp shown came from a dollar store... in a two pack, 1" and 2" (approx)... works pretty good... been on my bike 22k miles now...

I have been researching this since my original post. I have decided to pick up a Thrush glasspack. If it is too loud for me, I will add a baffle, reducer/tip, steel scrubbies, or something to tone it down. Some of the photos I have seen on this site have inspired me. I am hoping to get it done by the weekend. I will post pictures and sounds when I finish.
