Dinsdale,

kindred spirit here on the bow hunting. any legal animal taken with a bow is earned.

my hobbies are bow hunting (an addictiion really, not a hobby), training my blue heeler for blood tracking wounded deer and bear, SS teacher, singing, announcing horse shows for the Walking Horse circuit in the summer (four states), and a group of guys and I have a sound production "team" that runs sound for music festivals (mostly folk stuff) and big Relay for Life events here in northwestern NC.  We actually did all of Doc Watson's stuff here around home for the last several years.

He was a good man, he will be missed.

I would say playing and spending time with my 5 yr old grandson, but he is not a hobby as much as a huge part of my life.

You folks have some very interesting hobbies.  Always thought the RC stuff would be fun.

the flying is fun the racing is very competitive - i prefer the flying - the competition part was ok when i was younger - now i a just go turn laps and try not to get run over by the younger drivers......it is a youth oriented deal somewhat hand/eye coordination, reflexes, depth perception/vision...etc.....

Hobbies ?

Hmmm... lemmessee...

I used to ride my old Ducati ('nuff pics of that)

Then I was ... made to skyjump  Lips Sealed climb  Tongue and ski  Cheesy

So I passed on ther skydiving and mountainclimbing but still ski a lot.

Then I went back to motorcycles, and, after love affairs with MotoGuzzi and small BMKW, now enjoy my Savage and a big BMW R1200ST

Wonderful long range tourer !!!

But my big big love is reading. I LOVE TO READ,  it's food for the mind.

One of my key interests is ALCHEMY, which has nothing to do with turning lead into gold, rather man into Man.

http://heru-ra-ha.tripod.com/topics/alchemy.html

Another is philosophy the proper kind  Wink

Then there's Arcadia, and the Alchemic Portal, on which I am writing an essay...

Then there's the Kether Sephiroth and the Rosy Cross...

http://guidestones.org/the-guidestones/blog-rosicrucianism-rc-christian/

You'd be surprised how much Christian theology is contained therein, yet slammed by the Church as "occult" Roll Eyes
some say it is all described in John's revelation, masked as "horror and destruction" when it's actually "shunning material wealth for spiritual wellness"   Shocked
but we're delving into slippery territory here  Wink

The Corsair is my all time favorite plane. I used to watch 'Baa Baa Blacksheep' just to get a  glimpse of the beauties.

The Marine Fighter squadron I was in started out in the 40's flying the corsair and set some records

Nearly every World War II fighter squadron that flew in Europe has had its history chronicled. Other than "Pappy" Boyington's famous VMF-214 "Black Sheep", little has been written about Marine Corps squadrons in World War II. The contribution of VMF-323, the "Death Rattlers", over Okinawa in the Spring of 1945 is virtually unknown. In two months there, the squadron became the top-scoring unit of any service with 124 1/2 victories and produced 12 aces, the most for one tour of any Marine squadron. The squadron downed 24 3/4 Japanese aircraft twice in its tour, the most for a single Marine squadron in any single action. The squadron's story is not only one of its pilots, combat, and valor, but also of the enlisted men, "the ground-crunchers," who made it function against the Japanese kamikaze menace.
The most successful Marine Fighting squadron of 1945 was VMF-323, the "Death Rattlers," under the command of 23-year George Axtell. In a just a few weeks, they shot down 124.5 Japanese planes and counted a dozen aces.
Here's a picture of one that crash landing during the Korean war.

At age 65 now, I can see the evolution of hobbies in my life.  Only one has stayed constant since college, and that's flying airplanes.  Today I fly an Aeronca L-16, a Korean War era Army trainer.  Long gone are my days in jets and multi engine piston airplanes.

I flew gliders (sailplanes) for a few years in the late 1990s, but it got boring after a few seasons.

I've had years when bicycling was very important, and I still do ride some.  The days of the huge vegetable garden are gone, fishing is pretty much a thing of the past.

Nowadays I do amateur cooking too, nothing fancy as I don't like fancy, sauce laden dishes.  My favorites are simple baked filets of wild salmon, and beef steaks on the grill.
