Rear fender rails question
06/01/12 at 17:42:46
I would like to replace the pillion handles/fender rails to the style that does not have the provision for the back rest. The only ones I can find on the OEM sites are for the S40. I read that they will work fine on my LS650 so that is not a concern. My question is did they come on the pre-S40's? If not, it would definitely narrow my search results down on Ebay!

From all the research I did... No. Every year SAVAGE came with the sissybar. The S40 made it optional or you got the flat rails.

If you have a backrest w/siderail, I'll bet you could trade with someone that is looking for a backrest.

Greg.
I have a set of side rails that came off of my 07 S40 that are in great condition and are straight rails, no sissy bar.
I bought a set of rails and sissy bar from Built to Last on "this here forum".
If you can use them or adapt them pm me and i will make you a good price on them.

I have a pair of S40 rails without provision for back rest. They are a little different than the Savage rails, in that they are 1/4" thicker, so need 1/4" longer bolts. I put the rails from a Savage on my S40 so I could have a back rest to tie stuff to. The S40 rails have a pin at the back that fits into a hole in the fender with a grommet, presumably for locating the rail during assembly.
