Fitting a one piece seat on sectioned rear fender.
05/31/12 at 10:17:46

I recently bought a new seat and I'm not quite sure how to go about putting it on my bike because the fender is made for a sectioned seat. I had inquired about this a few months back, but I got busy. Now I'm ready to do the do. Anyone done this before? Would it be easier to fix the seat or the fender?

If I understand you properly, you got a one piece seat and have a fender designed for the two piece?
Cut or bend the rear seat retainer (looks like a small handle) and the one piece will bolt right on. Remove the back bracket on the new seat. The two side bolts will hold it on just fine.

The little metal thing at the back is the bracket that needs to be removed.

The piece that looks like a handle on the fender in front of the break light also needs to be removed.

I'll post some more pics. after I mount the seat.

Or bent down.  and a mounting hole for the rear tab.
I would figure out a tab and slot arrangement for that.

The Corbin seat does not use the rear mounting hole, and the stock seat probably doesn't need it either. If I was doing this mod I would try it without the rear mount first and see how it worked out.

Is that a corbin? if so prolly cost you a pretty penny? and if you have no mount in the back will it not fit closely to the fender??

That's definitely not a Corbin Seat.  Corbin's use only the mid mount plus the pan is all black.

The Corbin fits nicely against the fender at the rear without any mount.

Actually, I tracked mine from the forums on this site. I found a thread that said RYCA was overstocked and selling on craigslist. I lucked out, but I'm sure these guys know where to get a seat like this for a fair price. Ask around. I'll see what I can find.  Smiley Wink

Looks like just a stock seat from an '05 or later.  Looks fine but not the most comfortable seat in the world.
