Dyna Muffler adapter question
05/30/12 at 10:56:41

I am installing a HD Dyna FXD this weekend on my 2012 S40. I'm pretty sure I'll need a adapter. Anyone know what size between the header and muffler I'll need?

Thanks

Dyna side is 1.75"OD. LS650 side is bigger than 1.625ID. I know this because that is what I purchased. Eyeing up the adapter, I would say 1 11/16"ID but I couldn't find one. I purchased some exhaust tape from Autozone and put 2 layers on the head pipe. So far so good. Make sure you cut slits in the Dyna muffler.

What exact adapter will I need with the muffler tape? It will need to be the correct O.D. and I.D.

I didn't use an adapter with the muffler tape. The ID of the Dyna muffler is 1 3/4" (1 6/8" for the fractionally-challenged  Grin ). The OD of the Savage pipe is a little bigger than 1 5/8". I just wrapped 2 layers of tape, slid on the muffler and clamped it down.

Now that I rode it hard for a while I developed a slight leak. I am just gonna smoosh muffler mud on the seam.
