Okay,.. so you can buy one of these for $20.00...
Gerry has one and it works great...
See here...

..but,.. $20.00 for a piece of plastic?...
I bent a piece of wire, and covered it with a bit of vacuum line...
(trick is finding the right stiffness of wire... I got this from a wire dvd rack)...
Just the first prototype,.. I'll probably try for a prettier one later... Huh...

Not a bad idea bot

not bad at all, but I might have to tweak it a bit to give some adjustability.

The Throttle Pro is said to not slip once you set it.  But let me tell you, it slips.  Even with the nylon sleeve which is supposed to give it more traction, and running a DR650 (slightly smoother than the Savage motor) it still slips.  The things are just not thumper-friendly.

I am sure your homemade wire jobby is as good or better than the Throttle Pro.

For wire that is tuff, go to the hobby shop, ask for piano wire, 36" lengths. I keep gobs of it in various diameters. Be careful when bending it sharply, it can shatter & sling tiny bits.
