OK, you're gonna laugh, but after a failed attempt at adjusting, (didn't just chirp it screamed) I adjusted again and got it fairly quiet. To get it silent I used mustache wax. Last year I attempted to grow a handlebar mustache, which needs wax to keep it tidy. I made up a pint of the stuff, which is bee's wax and Vaseline, in about a 60:40 proportion, and is enough to last a couple of lifetimes. It is solid at room temp, so I heated it up in the microwave and brushed it on the entire belt. When I ran it for a minute on the stand it threw the excess off and appeared to coat the belt evenly. Took it for a short ride and the belt is dead quiet. Not a peep. Hopefully it will last a while. Oh and I gave up on the handlebar mustache- too much hassle.
