I'm gonna guess it's the same reason I did: the angle ain't right with taller shocks... I say that because of the hockey puck on the the sidestand. I have one on mine too, though it's mounted slightly differently. The taller shocks also make the bike lean more and the puck corrects it almost perfectly. It also keeps it from sinking into hot asphalt.
