So I did the seat lift. Well, the front half. I used the #7 butt plugs that you folks discussed. It is not attractive. I will probably get solid rubber or something to make it look better later.

Anyway, it is much more comfortable for me. Like I said, I didn't add the support in the center of the seat. I am a big guy. I am hoping the plastic pan bends and molds instead of cracking. What are the odds that I'll be shopping for a new seat soon?

There really is no need for concern. It doesn't really change how the seat is supported, just the angle it sits on the frame.

And.. there is only a front half (that I am aware of). The back position is determined by the bolts that hold it on. Unless you change the mounts or something back there.

If you don't like the #7 stopper solution (which is only good for about 30,000 miles before the rubber starts to fall apart), you can do other methods. I used some long bolts with 2 nuts on each bolt to position the front bracket. Long bolt goes through bracket. Nut on bolt holds bracket to top of bolt. Long bolt goes in frame as far as you want it to, 2nd nut tightens down to frame. Top to bottom: Bolt head, seat bracket, nut, threaded gap, nut, frame.
Probably not pretty enough for you though.. Grin

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

Hey, Greg, I've got a stock seat from my 06 S40 that has 800 miles on it. If by chance you end up breaking your current seat, let me know. There is no way I'm giving up my Corbin, so the stock seat is just taking up space in the garage.

(Foam came off plastic furniture sliders I bought at a dollar store)... ...come to think of it,.. ...half the mods on my bike came from the dollar store... ...
