Yes, it is not real. Very well done, though, eh?
There were several things that got my attention at first.
-- The guy's accent is faked well, but obviously an American pretending to be Russian.
-- The grammer (sentence structure) he uses is from a script, and he has rehearsed it a lot. His acting talent is so so.
-- The four rotors and the size of the thing don't have enough lift to do the job.
-- There is nowhere enough recoil displayed.
-- The gun sound is foley foley foley.
-- Too much bass in the noise of the targets blowing up.
-- The way the targets are blown up shows a remote triggering of placed charges.
-- The guy's piloting is too relaxed and perfect.
-- The sound of the rotors doesn't change any as the thing is maneuvering.
-- He made quite a point about a round blowing up right in front of him to "prove" how real the video was. Cute.
AFter all that,... I would still expect the technology exists to do something like this easily. The miniaturization of computer-controlled autopilots being used today in R/C helicopters alone would handle most of the processing needed to provide a stable enough and controllable enough platform for this. Add to that the technology available for detecting things visually and/or with infrared or RF. The main problem as I see it is how to lift enough ammo for the thing to fire more than a few hundred rounds.
Another problem would be the one we faced in F-4s when using laser guided bombs. We had to hang around for many seconds in a very high threat area while guiding the thing to the target. Very vulnerable. This quadrotor thing, if it were to get in close enough to do any good, could be shot down with pistol fire easily. One 9mm through one rotorblade,.. good-bye.
