it's not that hard really.
take it apart till you can pull the cylinder, then reorganize the pins.
any pins you can't get flush, leave 'em out.  All you need is one.

I think if you leave them all out, it won't stay in.
but you can try it.

can't figure it out? send it to me.  just send return postage.  I can pick 'em too.

Well, if I can find it, I'll send it to you. I think I may have f'ed it up and then threw it somewhere where I wouldn't be reminded of my impatience.

So the consensus is that there is no available non-OEM non-locking replacement?

Havin a look inside the tank & how its designed, how the cap locks in, I dont think Ive seen anything that will just go in & do it,
Mite be some old style cap from the 50's with the spring steel tabs across that could be modified to fit,

I'll tell ya one thing...   after reading this, I'm pulling my cap off, scraping off any crud, and lubing the working parts.   Now I think I have a clearer understanding of the snafu with the Hubble.

Good locksmithing lessons versy, and the onion added a nice touch too    Cool

hello verslagen1

thanks for the pictures

I'm also removing the locking from my cap, I was able to follow to picture two, removing the two screws holding the plate in place, however I was not able to remove the cylinder, in the following pictures I see the cylinder out but I think that is the one from the tool box, how do I remove the cylinder, by pulling it from the two circular pieces?

Graphite is the normal lock lubricant. It doesnt get full of dust & doent get sticky when its cold,

Just put some in, poke the key in & work it some, do that a few times.
Of course, the prongs that move in & out could stand some lube other than graphite,

Insert the key, turn and pull it out with the key.
If you don't have a key, at this point you need to pick it.

when you pull the key out of the cylinder, hold on to the pins, they will shoot out.   Shocked
