Newbie question about drive belt.
04/25/12 at 02:42:28

Hello! guys I have a savage ls 400 '95. I installed the belt instead of the stock chain. When you reset the engine speed on the move appears a sound in the area lead sheave. When I use the clutch, buzz disappears. It is ok?
thanks!
p.s. sorry for my english.

Doesnt sound good, flatten the bent over washer & retorque that front sheave, & do it soon, because it will mess the teeth up

WE adjust our by hand, Put it in gear & roll it backwards to put all the slack on the bottom, grab the belt 1/2 way between sheaves, twist the belt. Not gorilla force here, it shouldnt be hard, a secretary should be able to do it,if it will twist about 90 degrees,, thats pretty good.

I checked the belt tension. I was able to rotate it 90 degrees by hand without much effort. then I rode on my bike for about 15 miles. Buzz, but it's much quieter. How did mattress drive belt?
is probably only one reason-set of pulleys and belt were pre-owned? leading the pulley I purchased from another vendor.

Every time I get mine wet, it squeaks, I put some canning wax on it & that stops it, but it slings it on the wheel,, yukkk,,

Heh, used to use a bar of soap on squeaky car belts.  On this one, I just let it squeak until it dries enough to stop on its own.
